The 4 types of Hosting, you need to know about as a Blogger

There are so many hosting services out there in the market but when it comes to choosing the best hosting service in the market you have to take into account the following factors:

  • Try to ask yourself these questions: What kind of website am I planning to build, do you want to go with popular web hosting such as WordPress or just any other web hosting company but with a good platform for your needs ? In short, know your hosting needs. Namecheap offer good hosting services, you can register with them at Namecheap.
  • Reliability – It is important to have a guarantee for up time from your host. Therefore choose a host that operates 24/7 on a powerful server with stable network connections. Anything below 99.5% is unacceptable.
  • Research and Compare prices for both sign-up and renewal. Hosting deals, shared hosting especially normally offers very low-cost sign-up fees but charge more for renewals. Check for hosts that charge less than $ 10 per month. Anything higher than this should convince  you to look for another provide.
  • We have different types of Blog hosting i.e. Shared hosting, Virtual Private Server (VPS) Hosting and Dedicated  Hosting.  Shared Hosting – This is a good option for starters. It is cost-effective though it is not the best option. In a shared hosting platform, the host puts a large number of users on a single server. By allowing multiple websites to share a single server, if it happens that one website ends up having a bug, or garners a ton of traffic, it could use most of the servers memory, potentially affecting the amount of memory left for the other sites sharing the same server. This could affect load time, speed and functionality to your site even if your site is not the one causing the issue. To try to solve this, many servers attempt to avoid these issues by detecting and eliminating faulty sites, but this can’t be fool-proof. While shared hosting has some setbacks, it is good for housing test sites where up time is not a crucial factor. Virtual Private Server (VPS) Hosting – This is most powerful than shared hosting. VPS is an extremely popular service to upgrade to. While a VPS server is still a shared environment though different from Shared Hosting. A VPS has fewer websites sharing the same server and has a fail-safe mechanism called a hypervisor to ensure your site won’t go down if another site is using too much memory. The hypervisor allows a certain amount or RAM for every site on the shared server, so that once the site hits RAM capacity, it may go down, but won’t affect the other sites functionality. VPS servers are also highly configurable and flexible, meaning you can easily modify your environment without changing other users environments, this is  something you are unable to do under a shared hosting service.  Dedicated Hosting – If you have a site that exceeds 100,000 visits per month, this hosting plan, will be best suited for you. Here you get a server specifically dedicated to your site, you have a higher flexibility to implement specialized software and customize it extensively. The downside of this, is that this type of hosting is not fit for novice users. If you utilize dedicated hosting, you should know quite a bit about solutions, you will still need to do some work on your own.
  • Some of the highly recommended to blog hosts include Bluehost, Namecheap just to name a few.
